Dr. Jamiu Azeez

Dr Jamiu Oladipupo Azeez, is a native of Abeokuta, Ogun state Nigeria. He attended the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta between 1990 and 2005 and obtained Bachelor of Agriculture; Master of Agriculture and PhD degrees. He also attended Ajumoni Secondary School, Mushin, Lagos (1984 – 1989) for his West African School Certificate and Ajeabo Primary School, Igbehin, Mushin, Lagos (1978 – 1984) for his First School Leaving Certificate. He won many prizes and honors since 1989 till date, amongst which are Soil Science Expert: Cassava: Adding Value for Africa Phase II (C: AVA II). Sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (2013-2019) ;Semi Finalists, Third (3rd) Africa-wide Young Professionals in Science Competition 2013; Federal government post graduate scholarship award 2003; Postgraduate Scholarship award (UNAAB)2000; A.G. Leventis/Egba Scholarship award 1998-2000,2001-2003;Best departmental graduating student (UNAAB) 1997;Overall Best Graduating Student (Secondary School) 1989.
Dr Jamiu Oladipupo Azeez has over 50 publications to his credit among which are Forty-five (45) Journal publications; Five (5) reviewed conference proceedings; One (1) chapter in book and One (1) technical report

He is a member of Soil Science Society of Nigeria and International Union of Soil Science. His core research interest are in Soil chemistry and fertility, Soil pollution studies and Environmental impact assessment of agricultural practices.
Dr Azeez was a visiting scientist and lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology Pretoria, South Africa between July 2011 – Sept 2011, and a post -doctoral fellow at the same Institution between Feb 2009- Jan 2010. He had also consulted widely for private bodies on soil survey and Land suitability and Land evaluation. He had a stint with the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture between 2002 and 2004 as a visiting research fellow. Dr Jamiu Azeez is currently a Senior Lecturer and has been in the service of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Nigeria since 2005 teaching of Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Soil Chemistry and Microbiology, Fertilizer use and fertilizer Technology, Soil Mineralogy, Soil and Plant Analysis, Soil fertility and Plant Nutrition. Co-ordination of Undergraduate and Graduate Research Seminars, Research Supervision as major supervisor at undergraduate level. Dr Azeez has supervised 20 post-graduate students and over 30 undergraduate students. His hobbies includes: watching sports and documentaries, Playing Table Tennis, Reading, Travelling and Photography.
